Whether by holiday, honeymoon, apathy or even bribery, corruption,
putt-moving & various other forms of low morality, the field has been
decided for the second BDGA matchplay tournament, this year to be held
at Essex University on the weekend 8/9 November 1997.

As for last year, all games will be contested on a 'one-on-one'
knockout basis, giving everyone 4 rounds over the course of the 2
days & at the end acompletely useless BDGA matchplay rank.

Due to the ridiculous British tradition of daylight-saving,
play will start early both days - so we would like everyone
to be there at 9.00 am Saturday morning ready for 9.30.
We will try to stagger the starts but will probably have 4 groups
begin on the 1st hole & 4 on the 9th.

Running alongside the main event will also be the second BDGA fantasy
event- leave this to your imagination.

For the players-Please be there 9.00 am latest as you will bugger up
the event for everyone if there is a delay. By the same token, it is
important you let me know as far ahead as possible if you think you
may not be able to come- although at time of writing, all 16 players
     had confirmed their slot.

These are the lucky 16- ( in no particular order)
     Bud Ivan 'nice fleece'Bromage
     Bud Light Oz Freire
     Son of Bud Derek Robbins
     BOF Si Luard
     Lindsey Parkin Toy Lucey
     Rob Scott Charlie Mead
     Wacky Wakeford Steve Parker
     Rich Sampson Jim Edwards

Although the field for the main tournament is restricted, all players
are welcome to watch- last year a second matchplay event was run
alongside the main event with the same likely to happen this time.
The format is much friendlier to potential golfers who find the 4-round
format too much- so novices are welcome.
