The Nationals have to be at the end of the summer, because surely the whole
point is to work your team up for the summer, and reach the peak of your
ability after that, playing your best ultimate at the climax of the season.

It would be pointless having the outdoor nationals at the start of the
outdoor season, because most people would still be trying to play with an
indoor style.

Also, the main concern you have about the lateness of the Nationals regards
the student teams. Surely the student outdoor nationals exist to alleviate
this. Yes, student teams probably won't ever be as strong at the Nationals,
but students do get to go to more tournaments on the whole. I've just
graduated, and am lamenting the loss of mystudent status :(.
