Indeed! This summer I asked for people interested in laying down
guidlines for running tournaments which would be enforced at
nationals. A total of seven people volunteered for this group
including Toby, Myself, Simon Hill, Patch, Kevin Lowe, Sonic and Becca
(Ex?-Skunk). Much discussion has been had and resulted in some changes
in the way the nationals were run this year. Obviously the points that
Toby has now raised were not considered but can now be, since they have
been raised - most tournament rules have come about because of bad
experiences not good planning.

So, if you feel you have anything to offer by way of bad/good
experiences or planning of future nationals tournaments then why not
join this group (the only commitment is to spend some time commenting
on ideas and putting some forward yourself!). Just mail me and tell me
your interested.

I'm sure Simon will join with me in saying that the BUF's approach to
the Nationals and planning of tournaments in general is going to change
over the next year or so to a much more professional approach (Simon
has already given a hint of this in his mail to David) - rather than
the "just in time" approach of the last few years (mainly due to the
lack of the long overdue Director of Competitions). Isn't this what
you want?

Please remember that the BUF is a *Federation of Clubs* and its
basically up to you what the BUF does - so please take an interest, you
*will* be heard.
