Ok, so we were disappointed that Jack failed to show, although Steve
'don't worry I'll sleep on the veranda' Parker may differ in his
opinion. This, the first disc golf tourney of the year attracted 28
players, including a number of tyros taking advantage of the
leaf-less hazards.

At first it looked as though we might have some surprises - leading
players like Derek, Sam, and Simon Luard failed to make the lead
group after the first round over the Old Course. Sean led the field
with a fine 57, three ahead of Conor, Charlie and to everyone's
amazement, yours truely.

However, the natural order soon re-established itself, and the more
testing New Course proves that quality counts, Derek returning with
56 and Simon with 57; Charlie and I finding the rarified air in the
lead group too difficult scoring 72 and 71 respectively.

[The Greyhound send their best regards and many thanks to everyone
for single-handedly ensuring that their February receipts will break
all records, and to Sam, in particular, for his self-less
contribution, especially the singing.]

A windy Sunday ensured that course records would be under no threat,
Derek consolidated his position with 61, Simon nipped in front of
Sean with a 63, and Conor overhauled Toy to take fourth also with 63.

The final nine, essentially played backwards around the central part
of course, left Derek the winner on 214, Sean second on 221, Simon on
224, Conor on 225 and Toy on 230.

Luton (51, 53 and 49 over nine holes).

Next tournament at Whitcombe: British Open, July 18th and 19th.

There will be some Open Weekends in June and July where players are
welcome to come and spend a weekend helping to get the course
improved for the Open in return for time to play. More details later,
but if you want to register your interest for these Open Weekends, do
let me know.
