I agree, I'm sure if STAN had managed to have regular practices we
wouldn't
have spent so much time coming second to Shotgun/Hombres.

In an ideal world this would be a good idea. Unfortunately Ultimate in
this
country is not, I believe, big enough to support the idea. Many of the
STAN
players only ever play Ultimate at tournaments. This is due not only to
family commitments but the lack of a local team.

We now have a small nucleus of players based around the
Coventry/Birmingham
area and have managed this year for the first time to arrange some
practices
(with the help of some Bears and some Leicester players).

The introduction of the regional confinement idea would likely see an
end to
STAN, who have been around for over 10 years now, with the same player
base.
One of the main reasons people have joined and stayed with STAN is due
to
the spirit of the team on and off the pitch. Not just because we are one
of
the better teams in the country.

There are not enough Birmingham/Coventry players (excluding the
students)
to form a full outdoor squad. We would need to poach players from
Leicester
or Oxford in order to keep going. I'm sure this will be true for many
other
areas (outside London!!!!!).
