Attention Britdiscers - this is a brief introduction/invitation to a charity 24
hour tournament to be held on December 7th/8th (12 noon to 12 noon), in aid of
Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

The venue is the Mayflower sports centre near the Barbican Centre, in the centre
of Merrie Olde London Towne. The tournament format is going to be something
along the lines of 16 teams, each playing 15 twelve minute games over the course
of the 24 hours. Sponsorship will be based on total hours played/points
scored/players left alive at the end of the 24 hour period; something like that,
anyway.

Entry 'fee' is L200 worth of sponsorship (or much more, preferably); if you
assume 10 players per team, then that's only L20 each, kids. A bargain, I'm sure
you'll agree. There'll be some kind of trophy for the team raising the most
sponsorship, and sundry other stuff like that.

We're hoping to use the GOSH media machine to attract as much media interest as
possible (maybe even a celebrity or 2?), so apart from the splendid cause, it's
another chance to raise the profile of the sport.

Obviously you're going to want to catch a few minute's sleep during the games
(not when you're supposed to be playing, natch), and there's space in the hall
itself as well as another room on site. So sleeping bags etc. will be the order
of the day, and if it's privacy you're after, then make sure you drive a
comfortable car.

This Britdisc invite is going out earlier than snail mail invites, and we are
strictly limited to 16 teams, so let us know ASAP if you're seriously
interested, and we'll rush you your sponsor forms (when we get them from GOSH).

Remember, we're trying to shamelessly capitalize on the Christmas spirit which
we assume Joe and Jane Public will have in bucketloads, so get out there and
fleece them of their hard earned cash!

Ho ho ho.
