Hi everyone,

I have been reading the last couple of days emails for about an hour now!! I just
thought I would air some personal opinions since everyone else seems to have. I promise
to be as brief as possible.

1. Firstly the best suggestion that I have heard is organising Open Training sessions.
As a very keen but not particularly accomplished player I would love the opportunity to
learn more from the top players in the country. Some of the Shotgun players have a
really generous attitude to other teams - ie. Hurricanes at the Regionals. It seems that
once the basics are mastered, it is the psychology and tactics of the game that need
more development, as Jonathan? suggested.

2. I don't think a ranking system will really be of any worth until there is some sort
of regulation on the players that a team fields. I agree with Scott that "tarting"
should possibly be regulated in some way - apparently in Sweden a player has to undergo
a three month tournament ban if he/she changes team. Is this worth considering?

3. I agree with Dave Silbey that tournaments should be a mixture of open invites and
closed (aimed at higher or lower standands). TD's have the right to choose who to invite
and it is worth considering encouraging some of them to actively select who they invite
based on standard. An example is the popularity of Chew Magna and the encouragement that
beginners tournies provide. However, this should not go overboard, let's face it many of
us love the social aspect of Ultimate and I don't think we should be too elitist.
- peer pools as I arranged at Southampton could also be another solution, I think it was
quite popular.

4. I'm sure there were others things I wanted to say!!!

5. Re: Nationals Aftermath - please don't slag off tournaments on Britdisc - if you have
a problem then talk to Si Hill or Chris personally. Most people don't realise just how
much work goes into organising a tournament and I'm sure most TD's would appreciate a
bit more praise.

Got to go - must go find a life and stop reading email.
