Having organised a few tournaments in my time, and competed at the same time, I
have some sympathy with Chris' handling of the presentation and Spirit vote
gathering. The end of a tournament rushes up at one hell of a pace when you're
an organiser, and it's easy to forget to organise the presentation properly when
you're involved with the games.

The key is to improve the organisation of nationals better, and for the BUF to
set minimum standards in terms of staffing as well as fields etc. Had Chris
delegated some more of the organisation he may have known who had come where at
the end too! But you need staff if you're going to delegate.

On the other matter of playing three games back-to-back, I know too that this
can happen even if one tries to avoid it. I have been guilty of this myself, but
at least it was not certain when planning the tournament. (I have had occasions
where teams have lost unexpectedly and this has meant playing three on the
trot.) What I objected to yesterday was the fact that it was planned that teams
had to play three-in-a-row. This is really unacceptable and probably quite
dangerous.

Again the solution is for the tournament to be organised with a set of minimum
standards set by the BUF, and if the organiser cannot meet the standards with
their bid, they don't get to host it.

Overall I feel that Chris did a good job. The fields were great, and marked up
properly (which is rarely done), and without goalposts too. His parents managed
to provide enough food during the day (I didn't have to suffer breakfast), and
he had shelter and water nearby.
