Hi folks,

THIS IS NOT A RESULTS POSTING

The tournament ended, but it could and should have gone on longer (but I
don't think Barry would have thought the same).

This tournament just gets bigger and better all the time. 24 teams took
part from all over the UK. This time there were 8 full teams from
Scottish locations, and even a team flew in from Dublin for the weekend.

Most, if not all, of the folks playing were new to the sport, making
this their first tournament. Many previous entrants to this tournament
have now become top clubs in the UK. This trend is likely to continue.
So here is a notice to all the more established and settled clubs from
down south......There is a wind of change blowing and it's coming from
the North.(hope you like that catchy cliche ?)

In this tournament St. Andrews entered 3 teams, Sneeeky's 2 teams and 1
womens team, Glasgow and Stirling each entered strong players. All these
teams featured highly in the final placings (which I am sure will be
posted once Barry catches up on the weekends sleep).

The party went very well (but I was not there, so all that I say is a
lie). There was a beer race and it was won by somebody. It was
interesting to note that all the team members that took part in the race
were all late starters on Sunday. Bolton making a mark by getting so
trashed that Sunday was almost cancelled (Leo being their host, this
comes a no great surprise).

The facilities were excellent. Meadowbank is an international sports
centre and as such had buckets of facilities and staff that did not want
you to use them. Some team calls (which had to take place in the
corridors) terrified the children waiting to get into the creche.

There were 2 large halls for most of the tournament with an additional
very large hall for more play on Sunday (4 pitches indoors !). It is
rumoured that a bid may be made for hosting the national finals but I
will leave that to those that do that sort of thing.

Finally, I have to repeat that this was a great tourmanment, well
organised and well attended. Everyone got a hat and a hangover. The
local A&E department heard from us before the tournament even started !

Being probably the oldest player there, It would be true to say that I
have seen many good tournaments, but this one is up there with the best
!

Well done SNEEEKY's

Well done Barry !

What comes next ?
