Thanks to all the teams who made it out to Regent's Park for the first
Friendly Fires. By all reports it was enjoyed by most everyone. The
tournament format was aimed at giving each team the opportunity to play
as many games with as many other teams as possible, and with three
pitches and eight teams I hope everyone got at least three games under
their belts.

The two teams that finished undefeated were Brunel and Dough Boy, the
latter being a newly formed team of Antipodean players. Under Cover
Lovers were in fear of not having enough players to field a team but
beefed themselves up with some skilled pickup players to come away with
a 2-1 win-loss for the day. First Touch also won their first two games
against the extremely colorful G Spots and K-niggets before going down
in a hard fought battle to Dough Boy.

K-niggets played extremely hard and won the distinction of playing the
most games of the day (four) and having the most players stretchered off
the pitch (two, I think).

Honorable mentions go to Albatross and Imperial College whose top spirit
help make the day a great day out for everyone.

Friendly Fires was set up to give London teams a chance to play each
other and to make some new friends. The ethos behind the tournament was
for good spirit matches with lots of friendly competition. on those
counts the day was a complete success. So much so that there is talk of
having another Friendly Fires sometime in late May or early June. Early
enough so that students will still be in London and late enough to their
exams are out of the way.

The proposed format will be that of a Hat Tournament to allow people to
play even though they do not have a full team or a team at all! The
dates being discussed are the last weekend of May (29-30) or the first
weekend of June (5-6). Venue and party plans will be worked out along
the way. Even though we are looking at London players mainly, London is
central and accessible enough to make it viable for Brighton, Reading
and other players in the immediate vicinity of Greater London to make an
appearance.

If you think this is a good idea, please reply to this email address
with an expression of interest and with Friendly Fires in the subject
line. There might be a small entrance fee to cover tournament costs but
it will be a teeny tiny one, promise.

Thanks again to everyone who made it out on the 20th. It was great to
play with you.

know how to get rid of her signature from all my emails, so there! :)
