BUF National Teams Management

At the 1996 BUF AGM and subsequent EGM during the 1996 British Open the=20
BUF Council decided that all National Team Managers posts should be=20
appointed by the executive of the BUF as opposed to elected/re-elected=20
each year at the AGM. It was felt that the National Team Managers=20
would benefit from being appointed for an indefinite term with a clear=20
system of review being set up to monitor their progress against agreed=20
aims. The BUF also pledged to put every effort into obtaining=20
substantial sponsorship for the national teams.

Prospective National Team Managers are therefore invited to apply in=20
writing to the BUF Secretary (address as above) for the following posts;
=B7 National Open Team Manager(s)
=B7 National Women's Team Manager(s)
=B7 National Juniors' Team Manager(s)
=B7 National Masters' Team Manager(s)

Applications should be received by 25th October 1996 (or handed in=20
person to the BUF Secretary on 26th at the National Outdoors). =20
Applications should include a statement on each of the following:
=B7 Your full name(s) and contact details (postal, telephone, e-mail etc.)
=B7 A brief account of playing and coaching experience (inc. relevant=20
qualifications)
=B7 Your aims and objectives for the team and coaching programme
=B7 proposed management structure (including likely running costs)
=B7 team selection procedure
=B7 a proposed training and tournament schedule
=B7 support you require from the BUF

Once the applications have been collated appointment committees will=20
meet to discuss the applications for each of the management positions=20
which applicants may be invited to address. All committees will=20
consist of the National Director and National Teams Liaison Officer=20
with the final member being the relevant Special Interest Group officer=20
(i.e. Women's, Juniors', Masters' Co-ordinator) . Every effort will be=20
made to make the appointment by 27th October 1996 and all applicants=20
will be notified of the decision for each division in writing as soon=20
as is practicable.

In the first instance, all National Team Managers would be expected to=20
serve a minimum term of 2 years with no maximum term unless=20
specifically stated by the appointee. The position will however be=20
subject to an annual review in September of each year. The review=20
format will be drawn up and publicised in the near future.

NOTE: A new post will be created with a special interest in 'open'=20
matters (e.g. Open team management, Co-ed issues, growth in the number=20
open team players) who will sit on the appointment committee of the=20
Open Team Management.
