For those who'd rather just play pickup, the idea is to keep the
once-a-week pickup games at Clapham Common going, much as we've had the
last two years. That's *supposed* to start this week, but I'm still
trying to get an ok from Lambeth Council - which isn't proving easy.

However, the "league" part of the Clapham practice we intend to abandon
(way too difficult to organise, and not worth the effort when you
consider how quickly it tends to disintegrate). Now there are more teams
in London, a proper "league" should be practical, at least in theory. And
I'm sure many teams would appreciate the opportunity to gain more
competitive experience which they can use at the Tour, etc.

Perhaps one day we'll have one of those burgeoning (sp?) city leagues
like in North America. Wouldn't that be good? It might start with just
three or four teams this year, but if it goes well it gives us something
to build on in the following years.

BTW, I've started a database of players without teams who'd like to play
in the league. So...

* If you're a player without a team, get in touch. E-mail and telephone
no. would be useful.
* If you're putting a team together and you need extra players, let me
know and I'll mail you the current list.
