Quarry Park Report
A record number of competitors took part in the 5th Quarry Park
Open - 46 in all. Lack of wind and some excellent golf resulted in
better scores than ever before despite the ever growing trees
presenting an increasing obstacle on many holes.

Jim Edwards produced some excellent golf to take second spot
ahead of Sam Neilson, Simon Luard and Liam Young. Rich
Sampson (8th) consolidated his position as a top ten contender
and Neal Pickett proved that his excellent performance at Hayling
Island was not a fluke by taking 10th place.

Sue Underwood was the top woman and placed 21st overall.
Patrick Villiers -Stuart was the top junior, edging out Kieran
McSherry - both came all the way from Northumberland to
compete!

I lead from start to finish but a lacklustre 3rd round left me with a
diminished lead and I had to go up a gear in the 4th round to give
myself a comfortable lead going into the 6 hole final.

The first ever tournament ace was claimed by Si Luard on the
difficult 15th hole (Blackdown The Hill) and he won a 25 pound
credit at Del's Discs. There were many discs given away as
prizes for good play and novelty awards too. Thanks go to
Gateway Disc Sports for providing the plastic in form of the new
Apache and Sabre discs.

Despite some rain on Saturday night the barbecue and camp fire
went well and a good time was had by all.
