We encourage all teams to produce goods that can be sold to help =
them raise cash to pay for the trip. However, as with all WFDF events, =
teams cannot sell any products except through official WUCC outlets =
during the week or at Trading Night on the Tuesday of the tournament. =
Teams will have to register all their products with WUCC who will be =
responsible for selling all goods for a 25% fee. Please bear this in =
mind when you are designing and pricing your goods.

    Charlie Mead
    Chair WFDF Ultimate Committee
Am I alone in thinking this is all just a bit fucking much? Apparently =
it is not enough
to charge a player fee that is as much as the fee for an entire team in =
the average
UK tourney - the WFDF has to have a cut of absolutely everything bought =
and sold
during the week in St. Andrews. By my calculations the WFDF is =
receiving around=20
=A3140,000stg* in team and player fees for WUCC '99. Where is all this =
money going?
To pay the salaries of the volunteers who will be working at Worlds? To =
cover the=20
expense of brand new red cones to mark the pitches? To pay everyone's =
green fees
for a round at the golf club? How can an ultimate tournament possibly =
cost this much=20
money to stage?

I find the exhortation to produce your own merchandise to defray the =
expense of going
to Worlds particularly entertaining. I can't speak for any other teams =
but in the case=20
of the Pookas giving a 25% cut to a crew of greasy middlemen would =
entirely swallow
our mark-up and then some. The net effect of this ruling will be to =
inflate the price of
merchandise that is going to be sold mainly to other competitors at the =
tournament. =20
Who the hell are the WFDF to say I can't sell a t-shirt to a fellow =
ultimate player=20
except through their taxed and dutied, officially sanctioned channels? =
For whose=20
benefit is this tournament being run?=20

I will say here and now that anyone with enough screws loose to want any =
Pookas
gear (t-shirts, discs, blotter acid etc.) at Worlds merely has to sidle =
up to me,=20
utter the code words 'Worlds is buying Charlie Mead a new house', and =
I'll sort
them out with the necessary.

Dr. Benway
Minister For Propaganda
Dublin Pookas=20

*for reasons of laziness I assumed that each team brings 14 players =
(hardly an
over-estimate since you have to roster 12 minimum to enter) and that =
there are
96 teams coming.

14 x =A3100 =3D =A31400 (player fees) + =A3100 (team fee) =3D =A31500 x =
96 =3D =A3144,000
