I think that the rule question seems to be getting
hung up on whether or not the player has
established a pivot foot. I don't see this as being
necessary for a player to be judged as having
completed the catch.

An example: I lay out (yeah I know, this is
fictional), catch the disc in the end zone and then
slide out of the zone.
My first point of contact with the ground was in
the field of play, I retained control of the disc at all
times but I never establised a pivot foot. Does this mean
that the point does not count?

Surely, the end of the catch is when the player with the
disc has control of the disc AND control of themselves
i.e. they have stopped sliding, running or whatever.
Establishing a pivot foot is not necessary to obtain
possession, it is necessary to be able to throw.

So, the way I read it (sorry Christian): If you PLACED the
disc, this implies you had control and means turnover. If you
let go whilst skidding you could say that a blade of grass/
mud up your nose/ whatever knocked the disc out of
your hand

Just my thoughts

Batty
