Colin,

If you want to make the Nationals an event you need an audience. When I
submitted the bid I was asked to try and accommodate a lower, less ‘serious’
division to achieve this. These non-top 16 teams aren’t going to pay £100
for a smaller tournament. YOU would have had to have paid £100 whatever.

I will admit some regret that the main tournament fee has to be this much.
We had a sponsor all lined up but they’ve been procrastinating big time so I
had to charge the full amount in the first instance. You can expect a refund
if they stump up some cash. Profits? I should be so lucky! I will publish
any profits made if it makes you happy.

The lower placed teams are not going to get nearly as much pitch time as the
top 16. They’re also not going to get extra frills such as game discs. Fair?
I think so.

As for your clamoring about the Worlds Tune Up – I suggest you take a leaf
out of the Druids book and A) get a firm “Yes we’re coming” from interested
teams (show us the email!) and B) get their money, before you schedule your
event. Beats relying on charity mate ;-)

Trust me, it will all seem worth it when a sideline full of UTI supporters
is cheering you on in the final!

Catch you later

Ben
