In terms of refunds - it has happened before, and if I feel people are
making too much money from tournaments it will happen again. BUT, the
tournaments that are being watched are the 'compulsory' tournaments (ie
those that have been bid for) like the tour events, Nationals (in and
outdoors). You organise your own tournament and you can charge as much as
you like, and make as much profit as you like - if teams object, they won't
go. However your choice for attending Nationals is limited - and awkward to
boycott. So you should be expecting to pay a fair price, but similarly,
those people who have organised an event like this will tell you that it
takes one hell of a lot of time and effort, both before and on the day, the
costs do mount up very quickly, and if I am to have half a chance to
convince people to host these events, people / clubs need an incentive to
get off their butts and do it.

For those of you wanting to know why Leicester is hosting Nationals; their
bid was put forward by the City Council with the full backing of their
publicity office, and whilst this may not necessarily benefit the whole of
the country, increasing the profile of the sport, anywhere has to rate
fairly highly amongst our priorities.
