To all those going to GB practice tomorrow.

Schedule for practice is likely to be along the lines of
play 10.30-12.30, followed by lunch and meeting, then
more play 1.30-3.30. Expect to be finished by 4pm.

Proposed Agenda for meeting

Scope/objectives- Reach decision on management structure
and personnel to allow GB teams to excel at WUGC. This is
purely an exercise in target group (ie likely GB players)
reaching a concensus on what they would like. Any
decision reached will be put forward to BUF exec for
approval. The meeting will take 45 mins.

Please keep in mind:
(1) There are no set rules for this meeting- it is in
effect free to run its own course.
(2) propose and agree on what you're prepared to commit
to do (i.e. no point in suggesting playing every day if
you can't make it).

Below is a suggestion, having seen the proposals of how
it would be best to achieve the objective.

Problem 1: management structure

The proposals I've seen have been similar in a lot of
respects. Therefore there is little to be gained by
comparing one against the other. Instead, i've drawn
below what I consider to be a fair summary of all the
issues raised, and suggest each is evaluated on its own
merits.

(1) Squad Boss- All the proposals have proposed one
person to take overall charge (in umbrella fashion) of
all the GB squads. (except Aram's, which suggests one man
and one woman)

[I suggest we vote to determine approval of this]

Duties of Squad Boss need to be considered, suggestions
so far have been :
-Structure training in all divisions
-creating/upkeep playbook used by all divs
-fitness schemes
-devise drills
-outline aims and goals of squad [All sich, Chris H,
Aram & Si H (possibly) ]
-purely logistical role (booking training, sorting kit,
etc)[sammy]
-any others?

[Suggest we consider what the role of squad boss may be
and try and reach agreement on which duties are in and
which are out]

(2) Division managers- again most proposals suggest
having division managers.

[suggest we vote to determine approval of this]

Duties of managers need to be considered, suggestions so
far have been:
-help squad boss to develop ideas /strategies [sammy]
-implement squad boss' ideas etc [sich]
-any others?

[Suggest we consider what role of division managers may
be and try and reach agreement on which duties are in and
which are out]

(3) Selecting teams- who is going to select teams?
-Squad boss and division manager [sich]
-Division managers alone [sammy]
-other proposals are vague on this

[Suggest we have a brief discussion on this and then vote]

(4) Practicing
-regionalise (weekly or fortnightly) with monthly squad
sessions [Ian Stebbing, Aram]
- same, but only until february [Chris Hughes]

[Suggest we briefly discuss what people can commit to and
vote]

(5) Timing of selection/ eligibility.
-Late [Aram, Ian]
- no movement between squads 4 months prior [sich]
- several people object to players who have not made the
open/women to being considered for co-ed/masters [Jeff J,
Ian]

[Suggest if we've got this far, we let elected personnel
decide this, so propose we move on]

Problem 2- Election of posts

Hopefully by now we would have a number of posts with
outline descriptions.

[Suggest people volunteer for these posts, so that we
could take a vote]

so far:

Jeff has volunteered to be involved with co-ed
Aram, and Sammy as overall boss (possibly).

Other business-
David MacKay has volunteered to help with master's
communication.
Kevin lowe has volunteered to help with fitness,
particularly assessment.

I hope this meets averyones approval. May I remind you
this is just my suggestion of how the meeting should
progress. If you disagree with the agenda I suggest you
say so at the start of the meeting. I will not be
discusing this on britdisc today (as I need to work).
