Dear all,

This is a request re: tournament reports.

Firstly, is there one in the pipeline about the National Juniors Indoors?
It's been over a week now and none of the Ultimate community know what went
on there at Millfield. Do we care? Yes I think we do, and if we don't, I
think we ought to. The lack of a report might suggest to all those juniors
who took part that the Ultimate community at large isn't really interested
in Juniors Ultimate, and if that's true (which I don't think it is), then
that's very sad :-( How are juniors going to get enthusiastic if this is
the "vibe" we are giving them.

OK, that's a bit of whinge. So, whinge over, now a request.

Can I ask all the TD's of the National Indoor Qualifiers to either (a)
write a report and/or results listing for their respective tournaments, or
(b) nominate someone (preferably someone whose happy to do it) to write the
report/results listing for them; and then bung it on Britdisc.
The sort of thing we're looking for is a brief, objective overview (50-150
words, 150 being the absolute max.) of the tournament - we want to hear
about close games, upsets, plate final, final - score of the final would
also be appreciated (and plate final if you're really keen). The report
itself is not an absolute requirement (but would be preferable), but the
results listing IS, and it's important that we have the FULL results
(including spirit winners, spoon, plate and obviously the trophy winners).

It's pointless us having a professional looking Ultimatum if the material
that's in it is distinctly amateurish. Knowing who came 1st, 2nd, 4th and
12th isn't very helpful to the cause.

All tournament results are important but this is Nationals which makes it
an extra special case. Let's have a little bit of pride about our sport
and do a good job.

I'm quite happy to do the SE, if there's anyone out there reading this who
wants to write up the SW, Mids and North - then please make yourself known
to me (so I can chase you up after the event) and also to the TD's at the
weekend so they know someone's got the job in hand.

TD's: If no one tells you they're covering your region then it is kinda
important that you nominate someone to take it on (if you don't want to do
it yourself) or at least post a results listing if you don't nominate
somebody.

OK, any volunteers? We're quite happy to be approached by new tournament
reporters, so if you haven't written a report before, take a look at the
reports in the last Ultimatum to see the sort of thing we want.

One last word of advice, if you take the job on, write the report as soon
as you can after the event. After a day or two, the fine details get hazy,
after four or five days you start to forget placings and after a week, the
crusty bit of paper you had everything written down on is a ball of soggy
mush in the bottom of your washing machine with the rest of the Kleenex you
forgot to take out of your pockets, and even if you can salvage it with a
hair dryer - chances are the writing will be illegible!

OK, that's it.
Good luck to everyone at Qualifiers this weekend - even if you don't
qualify I hope you all have great fun at your respective tournaments.
