Well, if Casey is an ugly bearded chick then I am a not so ugly, clean
shaven lesbian ;-)

Oxford Women's Indoors,

Final placings:
1.Bliss (London)
2.BAF (Cheltenham)
3.Phat'Eds (Sheffield)
4.Janet Hawes (Leeds)
5.Angels/Organics (London)
6.OW! (Oxford)
7.Squaws (Brighton)

Spirit: Squaws

Tournament Report:
The tournament was played on a round-robin format initially, with play-offs
between 1v2, 3v4 and a three-way pool between 5-7. Games were 25 minutes.

Saturday saw some very close games, notably Phat'Eds v Janet Hawes with JH
winning in sudden death and Squaws v OW! with Squaws winning the crucial
final
point. Team player lateness saw both Bliss and BAF resorting to 4-(wo)man
zone,
both teams succeeding in baffling their opponents with very 'junky' D to
clinch
the top two places at the end of the round-robin. The Bliss v BAF game
included
BAF resorting to playing their joker with a debut performance by a rather
ugly
bearded chick called 'Casey'. After an impressive start she quickly lost
form,
being shown the disc on several occasions thereafter, helping to ensure a
Bliss
victory.

Sunday brought 2 epic battles between OW! and Angels in the space of 3
games,
the first being the last round-robin game, the second a 5v7 play-off. Both
games were closely fought with Angels emerging victorious. Both Phat'Eds and

OW! got revenge for their sudden-death defeats on Saturday, Phat'Eds taking
3rd
place from Janet Hawes; OW! pipping Squaws to 6th place with a lay-out 'D'
from
junior Carlene which brought enthusiastic applause from the home crowd.

The final saw a rematch between Bliss and BAF (plus 2 pick-ups and a benched

Casey), filmed by Channel 6 (an Oxford TV channel).

Thanks to all the teams that attended. The standard of play improved
dramatically over the weekend, resulting in hard fought but spirited games
throughout both days. Congratulations to Squaws on winning spirit - Natalie,

you would have been proud of them!

Looking forward to seeing you all again at women's nationals.
Tara
