Paid referees at televised games is feasible. Whether it is 
desirable is another question.

Referees at regular tournaments I doubt very much. Who on earth 
would want to be a referee? I can't imagine that it would ever be a 
positive experience - just look at the shit footbal refs get. There 
would be no less arguments on the field either.

If people don't want to ref it will be mighty difficult to get them to 
do so.
