Hi all,

One of the ideas to come out of the GB team discussions at the end
of last year was to have regional practices in between the monthly
general get-together, as a way to increase the regularity of play
whilst avoiding even more travelling.

I'm pleased to announce that the first GB northern region practice
will be held on sunday 30th January at the University of Manchester's
Wythenshawe Sports Ground (many thanks to Rob Mitchell for organising
the venue). Directions to the grounds are given at the end of this
email.

I would encourage all those GB hopefuls (whether open, womens, mixed,
masters or juniors) from the northern region who have already turned
up to the main sessions to try and make the practice. It's also not
too late (just about!) for those who haven't crept out of the woodwork
to come along and make an impression! Both myself (mixed team
coordinator) and Sam Neilson (overall GB coordinator) will be there to
represent the GB management, so none of you northerners need worry that
your efforts/skills will go unnoticed :-)

Directions:

Wythenshawe Sports Ground is immediately north west of junction 9 of
the M63. To get there, get off the M63 at J9 and head south on the
A5103. Take the first exit off the A5103 and turn right onto the B5167
(Wythenshawe Road). Take the first right onto the B5166 (Sale Road).
Take the first right, then turn right again to get onto Yew Tree Lane.
The next left should take you back underneath the M63 just by J9; follow
this road back west on the north side of the motorway to get to the
sports grounds.

Rob's sent me a jpeg map of the roads described above; if anyone wants
me to send them a copy mail me direct and I'll do so (it's 128K, so I
don't want to send it to all those Britdisc people who aren't going to
be interested).

Hope to see you all in Manchester,

Jeff.
