This email is aimed at any students that are young enough to play for GB juniors. If you are in your first year and you didn't take a year out, it is likely that you are young enough to play this year.

We have to make a decision this week about whether we will be able to send a GB Junior team to the World Championships in Germany. The dates for the tournament are August 5th - 12th, and the cost will not be more than £400. Obviously, that is still a lot of money, but we hope to find cheaper options, and raise some sponsorship to reduce the amount.

It is vital that Great Britain do well in all divisions at Worlds this year. The top six nations will then be invited (and paid for) to play in the World Games in Japan, 2001. Traditionally, the GB Juniors have always performed well, and this year should be no exception.

What we need to know now is who wants to go, and who can actually afford to go. We need to pay a team deposit by next week, and start booking accommodation and flights. Accommodation will be in the form of either tents, or sleeping on the floor of a gymnasium. All meals will be provided. The cost of team kit should be provided by sponsorship.

We must have at least 12 juniors, and would rather take a squad of 16. The age limit for juniors states, "You must not reach your 20th or subsequent birthday in the year of the tournament", so if you were born in 1981 or later, you are young enough to play. There is no lower age limit, and we already have a 12 year old that is good enough to play. If you are interested in playing, then please email me as soon as possible (Kev@cheerful.com).

The next GB Junior practice will be on March 11th in Leicester. Full directions will be sent out. Before then, any juniors based in the North are welcome to attend the GB Northern training next Sunday (20th February) in Manchester.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Kevin Lowe (BUF Youth Coordinator)
