Dear B.D.ers

I'll probably get way out of my depth but seeing as the discussion
has slightly changed emphasis towards the Indoors/Outdoors debate I
thought I'd have my two-pence-worth.

Some people seem to feel that the solution to the question of dropped
indoor pulls is to abandon the indoor game fothwith and speak no more
of walled and roofed Ultimate. However, while I feel that the
indoor game cannot (and should not) attempt to take the place of what
some would call the "proper" (i.e. out in the sunshine) game, it does
have some merit.

I'm sure that many students (oh not another bloody student, I hear
you cry) like myself don't come from areas where Ultimate is easily
accessable, especially when we go home at summertime. As a result
most of the tournaments that that we get to are during the winter
which as a consequence of the weather must be held indoors. It is true
that at tourneys the games may feel too short (believe me, that's how
they felt last weekend ), but space is limited and T.D.'s try to do
their best.

Tourneys are, I feel, the place where a "hopeful to improve" player
like myself can learn the most in the least amount of time, even if
it is only indoors ;-). So while the more experienced of you out
there in real world may dismiss them, I do not. Maybe as I get older
I'll change my mind , who knows, but for now I just love to play
ultimate, both in centrally heated sports halls and on frost bitten,
wind swept fields.

So now, looking forward to the summer (for outdoors) and next winter
(for indoors),
Love and Luck from the North
Ian
