To respond to Roger's post..

Just fyi, the leagues in the states and canada are not
allowed to be joined by pre-formed teams...what you do
is enter individually, stating your fitness ability,
your ability ranking, how long you've played etc., so
that teams of equal playing ability are formed,
allowing more experienced players to serve as
captains, and beginners to learn the game in a
friendly environment, supporting the spirit of the
game...

Competitive, or travelling teams as they are called,
still have their own practises, and often the players
enjoy league play as a chance to compete against
someone on their own team, or to simply have a good
time playing disc.

Of course this only works if people are interested,
but in Washington for example, the league has had
enough interest to form 3 different pools of play,
recreational, competitive, and corporate teams.
Corporate pools are the only ones that are preformed,
obviously sponsored by the company...

Hopefully, England can keep teaching enough beginners
to play so that in the future these kinds of leagues
can take place.
