Wanted to pick up on Chris' email. He is right you see - most of us do =
bugger all to make sure that tournaments happen. If he and/or Wayne =
stopped doing them all, then we'd be in trouble.

Our requirement that Tour events have so many teams has ended up putting =
people off running tournaments. We impose a restriction that the venue =
be able to have 8 marked, full size fields. =20

I think this is the vital bit of Chris' email:

Right. So don't split the Tour into bits, simply *reduce the size* of =
the tournaments.

Effect:
1. Tour Events become easier to run (and venues easier to find). I =
suggest that a few more candidate TDs will come out of the woodwork.
2. Lots of teams will need other places to play - more fun tournaments. =
Likewise, these can remain at the 16-24 team size. Again I predict that =
some extremely keen players will realise that they need to and can do a =
few tournaments for themselves - without the risk of the Tour pulling =
away all the teams.

We should avoid saddling ourselves with another level of "BUF =
competition" (a B-Tour has been suggested in the past). Its perfectly =
simple to come up with a reaonsably sensible way of providing promotion =
and relegation into and out of the Tour using other "unregulated" =
tournaments.

The BUF needs to encourage all levels of tournament - and provide =
assistance to all levels of tournament. I think that this can be done =
quite effectively whilst reducing the number of teams that play in the =
Tour.

I'm trying to stick to making a single point. I find that hard :)
