Just so that it is very clear: I applaud the effort made by the Stebbings
and am gutted on their behalf about the way things went. It seems
abundantly clear that they were let down badly by the venue.

OK - back to business:

Sorry you didn't like my gag. Speaking seriously we didn't want sympathy -
we wanted the people who agreed with us to make a similar stand.

don't)

In what way does playing from 12th seed put our seeding on the line? Why
should we work our way back up?

In case the logic of my point was not clear I was trying to say this:

We have been put back in at 3rd seed. Consequently a group of teams below
have been moved downwards. They ought to be irritated about this - I would
be. So I suggested that if they wanted to put the decision to the test - on
the field - where it counts - then to drop us a line.

In fact one team did write and say that although they didn't feel they would
run us very close they would love it if we could get along to their practice
for a game.

Other than that nobody came forward - maybe nobody thought it I meant it.
Probably Chev and DSM thought it was more effort than it was worth since we
will all get the chance to fight it out in Southampton. The only team with
something significant to gain from playing us is Hammerage.

OK - that MUST be clear by now.

Second point - oh yes I'm on a roll.

> If you really want to put your seeding on the line (which you clearly
don't)

Have you read the ranking list? We are placed 14th at the moment because we
chose to *put our position at Nationals on the line* by throwing away 200+
points. In what sense do you think that we "clearly don't" want to put our
seeding on the line?

Third point - oh yes I'm quite irritated.

> ps - I don't know you either and no, I don't play for Hammerage.

Got me - I shouldn't have said that to David Eastman - I apologise.

For anyone else who doesn't know who I am, perhaps I can put my continuing
rants into perspective. At the end of 96 season, I conceived of and
implemented (with lots of help - you know who you are!) "The BUF Ultim-8
Tour". I take it personally that the Tour has had some problems this year -
I feel like there must be a flaw in my thinking - and I want to see us all
get past those problems and make the competition structure work as well as
possible for as many teams as possible. Unfortunately my job makes it
difficult to help Chris and the others at the moment - which makes it all
the more frustrating for me.

For this - amongst other reasons - I (and the rest of Catch) deeply want to
win the Tour. Whatever chance we had has gone this year because of our
decision not to play in Towcester.

Thats it from me.

Si - Catch 22

oh - one last thing - I fail to see how a TEAM fee of 90 quid for a
tournament is expensive. Its less than 10 GBP per player. Tournaments
should be more expensive - TDs should make big profits when they get it
right!
