Regarding Nolan's point about setting up specific contracts and then various
parties not delivering - my initial suggestion would be for a TD to go for
non-payment or compensation for breach of contract. I work in a performing
arts venue and if/when suppliers don't deliver (whether that be artists,
printers, etc), we usually take this course of action.

The implications for Ultimate and TDs are that you would normally have to go
through the whole invoice/"Are you a legitimate company?" type deal, so that
you only pay after the event or a percentage upfront.

Is it not possible for the BUF to either take on this responsibility or
provide a sample/template of a legally binding contract for teams/TDs to use
which could be amended with a specific guarantee of listed services? We all
know how much major tournament fees can add up to, so to spend a few quid on
nailing down the worst case scenario that seems to happen quite a lot
doesn't seem to be a hardship.

Thoughts, suggestions, etc to the usual place...
