Dear all,

Can I just confirm that juniors are not allowed to enter certain
tournaments.
One boy from our school who is training for the junior world championships
this year was turned away from the Exeter Hat tournament last weekend.
I try desperately to get games for our team with no success so it was a
shame that a tournament in our home town was not accessible for this player.
I continue to look for games or invitations to play in other tournaments, as
I really do feel that youngsters are the future for Ultimate. If it is to
continue to grow and be successful they should be given every opportunity to
participate. Junior events are few and far between and asking 15year olds to
travel 200miles is a little unrealistic. Every month I lose one or two to
football or rugby clubs as they get frustrated with not playing competitive
matches.
I'm not really sure what I'm saying, just that if young people are turned
away from events then they may not come back. In order for Ultimate to be
taken seriously then as much opportunity as possible must be given for young
people to play. Obviously young players should be of specific standard
before they can play in adult competitions but as Ultimate is supposedly for
everyone to play and enjoy, can there be a criteria other than age for entry
into such competitions.
