Alison Green, enchanting wife of Doctor Toby Green, loving mother to James,
William, Toby and Tom and their wives, and Granny to Patrick, Edward,
Jemima, Angus and Alex, flew to heaven this morning. Cremation Wednesday
19th July - family only. Thanksgiving service on July 26th at St Mary's
Beaminster at 3pm. All very much welcome. Don't dress in black, no flowers.
Donations to Children's Asthma Foundation.

This will, no doubt, come as a great shock to you, but my mother had been
fighting cancer for the past four and a half years. Not being one to fuss,
she did not want anyone to know, and until very recently carried on life as
normal. About a month ago the cancer escaped from its pharmaceutical 'cage'
and she decided not to carry on with more treatment since it would not have
enabled her to continue farming and would have just meant prolonging the
inevitable. She passed away peacefully with my father at her side.

She left a bunch of wishes, one of which is that disc golf is to continue at
Whitcombe and that this year's Open proceed as planned. She was delighted
when I asked her if I could extend the course this year - she was a real
fan. She loved sharing the farm with those who appreciate its beauty and who
enjoy its use - that means you all both ultimate and golf players. (She even
said that if she died just before/during the golf she was to be put on ice
until it had finished! - and she meant it too!).

So no backsliding - this year's tournament will also be a wake and you are
all invited!

I am at Whitcombe and have managed to plant the first four of the new
baskets and levelled the horrid tee up Bowlings Hill (the old location). So
there's another 32 to go. If anyone can offer help this weekend as well as
next week, you'd be most welcome! I'm not sure where I'll be staying, since
I need to keep an eye on my father. But I can certainly offer 3 beds in the
Summer House this weekend as a minimum.

If you think you can spare the time to help out, either call (01308 862366
or 863566) or email me at my new address: tobygreen@attglobal.net.

Whitcombe won't be the same without her. But she'll be watching over us to
make sure we keep it beautiful and faithful to what she created here. And
the golf's very much part of that. I look forward to seeing you all on the
22/23rd.

Toby
