Adam here. About that London Beginners Tournament then ... here is the first
proper volley.

Let's shoot for the weekend before Sheffield, and go for two days in case
one day is horrile and windy. Beginners being beginners we ought to try and
give them at least a 50-50 chance at a decent day outdoors.

Start at 10am, Captain's meeting at 9am. Round Robin format for 8 teams
which we can split into two pools with NO Crossovers (except for 1A v 1B and
2A v 2B playoffs for top 4 positions in a 2 pool scenario) maintaining Round
Robin format.

Venue can be either Clapham Common or Regent's Park. Putting it to a vote
from you lot. Benefits of Regents is that we can use the 2 marked pitches
leftover from the Summer League and the changing rooms. No such luck at
Clapham.

Cost per team is GBP40 to go towards booking changing facilities, buying
trophies and (maybe) a Saturday night party at UCLU/ULU wherever.

Rules as per the Edinburgh Beginners format. It is a classic after all.

And I will expect all hands to help with the running of the weekend. NOT
doing it by myself. Not capable, too muddle-headed etc...

So, London and near-London, whaddyathink?

Cheers,

Adam Keen
