As some of you probably remember, I never formally announced the BritDisc
archive, partially because it's pretty crap! Basically, I've kept a personal
archive of all britdisc mail since about the fifth mail ever, and when
somebody wanted to retrieve an old e-mail, I just hacked together a simple
script to turn the whole lot (a 15mb mail spool) into seperate HTML files
and create an index. Back then, there was well under a thousand e-mails in
the mailbox. Now, there's close to 6000.

I'd always intended this to be upgraded, but as nobody ever actually really
seemed to use it, it sunk to the bottom of my list of priorities.

It's about 15mb for the original mail spool, and about 19-20mb for the
generated HTML.

You know, though, I still don't see the need for paid-for services. There
are enough of us on BritDisc in the web development community that we can
keep this kind of thing in-house.

Basically, there are a variety of things that could be done. The simplest is
splitting the display into small month-sized chunks. Now I've got some
permanent web-space again and there is actually a demand for this, I'll
probably re-visit this. My priority right now is the Old Bears web-site.
