Apologies to non-Londoners. You might want to stop reading now ;-)

London Ultimate League 2001
---------------------------

This is just a quick call to arms really. I'm in the process of getting
the London League sorted for this summer, and it's about time I had an
idea of how many teams will be playing.

Those who played last year will know how it worked. It's pretty much the
same plan for this year. But for those new to the concept, here's the
main points:

* Games are played on a weeknight (probably Wednesday), between May and
August

* It won't be *every* Wednesday. There are off weeks. Teams will probably
end up playing about eight games.

* Venues for games will be Clapham Common and Regents Park

* It's up to you to form teams and enter as a team. It's not a hat.

* Teams play co-ed. 5-2 ratio.

* There's a team fee of about 100 quid or so (might not be that much, not
sure yet).

* There are trophies to be won. Quite cool they are too (see website).

I haven't updated the website yet, but if you want to see how it all
worked last year, visit:

http://www.ultimatum.demon.co.uk/londonleague/

Seemed to work well last year, so there are unlikely to be many changes
(though I'm hoping to actually have a "finals" day, and subsequent party,
on a Saturday).

What am I asking for at this stage?
----------------------------------

Simply that you start organising your teams. Get on the case, start
making those phone calls and sending e-mails.

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you're planning to enter a team, whether
it's complete and ready to go, or if you're just thinking about it.
There's plenty of advice on forming teams on the website.

Please also join the London League mailing list if you haven't already.
To join, visit:

http://www.groups.yahoo.com

and do a search for "londonleague". There are currently 106 players on
the mailing list. Info about the league will be sent to the league list,
and not to BritDisc, so you need to join up if you want to know what's
happening.

If you're a spare player looking for a team, it wouldn't hurt to put a
message out on the list declaring your availability.

Okay, I'm done for now. Later people.

Thanks

Paul
