Tim,

Don't worry, we're not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater (or
sell our souls to Satan or Sky for that matter!).

You're right that getting things sorted internally is the most important
thing hence the proposal to become a proper players association (which I
assume you haven't read judging by your emails)

http://www.ukultimate.com/docs/assoc.htm

Your dead wrong if you think publicity is certain to harm us. Publicity
means more people have heard of the sport which means players, more teams,
more local competition, cheaper membership fees, etc. Basically its good
news for everyone. The 1994 Channel Four documentary on ultimate has been
cited by countless people visiting freshers fair stalls as the time they
first heard about ulimate. The positive preconception this gave them was
invaluable for recruitment.

We're not going to suddenly become premiership football overnight so chill
out. Actually there is a great deal we can learn from other sports. They
have after all succeeded as we hope to eventually. Its only football thats
got itself in such a mess through having too much money, most other sports
are doing just fine with sponsorship, etc.

Anyway whos to say we can't retain our special identity as well as become
more 'mainstream'? To be honest ultimate is a lot like many other minority
sports. Having no referees (debate anyone?!) is certainly unusual but apart
from that there are an awful lot of other people doing similar sorts of
things across the country.

Take it easy mate - its only a sport - not a cult.

Ben
