Indoor Teams

Here's the email that I recently sent to your Team contacts. There was also a map of Cheltenham attached, but I can't send that to BritDisc. (get it off your contact!)

Answers to some additional questions:

FRIDAY NIGHT ACCOMODATION
I won't be around 'til late on Friday night;
Chris will be working 'til at least 10.00 pm

If you want Friday night accomodation, follow this procedure:
1) go there, and check to see if it's open yet (probably not, if it's before 10.00, as Chris has the keys;
2) call Chris at work 01242-543299
3) if no answer, call Chris at home 04452-380529

Chris will let you know whether he can get out to you quickly and let you in, or whether you should go and find a pub, and he'll come to find you a litle later.

CAPTAINS MEETING
is currently planned to be in the Recreation Centre at 08:45
NOTE: Chris is considering replacing the Captain's Meeting with an email before the w/e, which would also detail what time YOU need to be where for your first game!
NOTE2: Unless you hear this for definite from him, prepare to be in Cheltenham for 08:45 !!!!

Regards
Wayne

Subject: Directions for Indoor Nationals

First: ANY AND ALL replies to this message should be addressed to
w.retter@bigfoot.com <mailto:w.retter@bigfoot.com>

Second: there's (sort-of) a tournament website at
http://www.ultilinks.com/tournaments/buf2001indoors/
Unfortunately, it
doesn't have the map listed below/attached on it, which was the whole
point... hopefully some of the other stuff will be useful (like, the list of
teams attending!) Don't expect to see the seedings and/or schedules until
the captain's meeting on Saturday morning.

Third: PARTY info - In his finite wisdom, Chris has decided that we'll
"invade" the "Fish'n'Fiddle" at 1a Imperial Square - just around the corner
from Pizza Piazza, I think... Check out http://www.visitcheltenham.gov.uk and follow the "Life After Dark",
"club: life", "Fish & Fiddle" links sequence for a little more info. I
called them (01242-238001) to check out their dress code, and they said they
don't have one!!!! (somewhat different to last time I was there!). Sorry,
forgot to check on entry prices/times - from memory, it cost about a fiver,
after 10pm ?

Last: some tournament info -
    directions to the halls,
    address of the accomodation,
URLs for maps on the web,
an attached JPG file (I hope this gets through to you all!)

The tournament is taking place on two sites, approx. five minutes walk from
each other.

Every team will have an equal chance of winning, according to the format.
The tournament format will be four pools of six, with teams moving between
halls, followed by three eight team knockouts. Captain's meeting will be at
8.45am on the Saturday morning, and all teams need to be there.

We recommend the following routes; (BEWARE SPEED CAMS!)

North (Birmingham'ish):
Come down the M5, to J10, and turn towards Cheltenham on the A4019. Go past
Sainsburys, past the TVR and BMW garages, and then turn left at the
roundabout, onto Kingsditch Lane. Turn right at the mini-roundabout on to
Swindon Road. Over the railway, be careful of the narrow bridge. Follow the
road left at the next mini-roundabout. Past The Railway pub, and turn left
at the next mini-roundabout onto St Paul's Road. The Hardwicke sportshall is
in Hardwick Campus, immediately on the left; The Recreation Centre is in
Tommy Taylors Lane, for which you need to go under the railway bridge and
left into Folly Lane.

London / South:
The fastes route now is not the M40 / A40, but instead along the M4 to J15
and the A419 at Swindon to Cirencester, follow that road straight onto the
A417 (both brand new roads with no speed cams.). Stay on the A417 to J11A of
the M5 and get on to go one junction north to J11 (A40). Then follow the
next set of directions.

South-West (Bristol'ish):
Up the M5 to J11 and onto the A40 towards Cheltenham. Straight over the
first roundabout, past GCHQ, and turn left at the next roundabout, onto
Princess Elizabeth Way, the A4013. Go straight across the square roundabout,
i.e. opposite corner, back onto Princess Elizabeth Way. Go past Pate's
Grammar School , Hall 2, and carry on until the roundabout by the Rover
Garage. Straight across onto Kingsditch Lane. Turn right at the
mini-roundabout on to Swindon Road. Over the railway, be careful of the
narrow bridge. Follow the road left at the next mini-roundabout. Past The
Railway pub, and turn left at the next mini-roundabout onto St Paul's Road.
The Hardwicke sportshall is in Hardwick Campus, immediately on the left; The
Recreation Centre is in Tommy Taylors Lane, for which you need to go under
the railway bridge and left into Folly Lane.

A40 East (Oxford'ish):
Follow the A40 all the way through Cheltenham towards the M5, and eventually
you will come to Lansddown Road, The Junction has a Petrol Station in the
middle of the road in a roundabout. Carry along Lansdown Road until it
become a single lane over a bridge. Turn right immediately after at the
traffic lights, by the Lotus garage, onto Gloucester Road, the B4633. Past
the Railway station, over the mini-roundabout. Past a number of traffic
lights, past JJB Sports and tesco's. At the next set of lights, outside lane
and straight on into Townsend St. (one way). Turn left at the end onto
Swindon Road, and then immediately turn right at the mini-roundabout onto St
Paul's Road. The Hardwicke sportshall is in Hardwick Campus, immediately on
the left; The Recreation Centre is in Tommy Taylors Lane, for which you need
to go under the railway bridge and left into Folly Lane.
