<html><DIV>Dear All,</DIV>
<DIV>June 16th and 17th saw the first Kilkenny Ultimate tournament take place in Kilkenny College, and the results were as follows.</DIV>
<DIV>1 Fever</DIV>
<DIV>2 Bloom Raider (aka Nicole´s Team)</DIV>
<DIV>3 Craic (Dublin EUCC team)</DIV>
<DIV>4 Purple Haze</DIV>
<DIV>5 Jedi</DIV>
<DIV>6 Loretto Navan (Spirit winners)</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Firstly let me thank all thy teams and players who travelled to Kilkenny for their efforts in getting there. We had players from as far away as Germany and South Africa and we even found an ultimate player who lived in Kilkenny.</DIV>
<DIV>Teams began arriving on Thursday and Friday with plenty of Guinness, Kilkenny and Smithwicks flowing for anyone who was thirsty. Play began on saturday morning with round-robin competition. At the end of this Fever emerged unbeaten despite a great fight back by Craic and a very close finish against Nicole´s Team.</DIV>
<DIV>Saturday night saw a civic reception for the players hosted by the Mayor of Kilkenny in City Hall, with a bit of the history of the location and a few free beers to go around. This was also the opportunity to indulge in a few comedy photos using the ceremonial sword and mace as props. </DIV>
<DIV>A rather generous lie-in on sunday morning was enjoyed by all with sore heads, before the semis, which saw Fever and Nicole´s Team through to the final, and what was sure to be another tense game. The sun even came out (yes, the sun does occasionly shine in Ireland. I believe it last happened in 1978). In the end Fever won, but I suspect that injuries and fatigue on Nicole´s team added to the winning margin.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Well, that was the end of the tournament which had many highlights on and off the pitch. One thing that stood out for me was the amount of improvement that seen in the team from Loretto Navan. They started the weekend as a juniour girls team that had never played a competitive game but improved massively over the weekend. I´d like to thank everyone who played them and coached over the course of the tourney.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>As for next year? Well, maybe....</DIV>
