Wasn't there some half-baked effort called "Ice-Warriors" (TV show like
Gladiators only on ice) that actually did this?

As I recall there were two teams of four players and two goals and this
weird aerobie-type thing with foam rubber in the middle to slow it down
a bit and was played as a cross between touch-tackle rugby and
Ultimate. Fun stuff, maybe the WFDF would approve? Mountain bikes can
do it, I reckon ice should too. This effort on roller blades might make
it a little more accessible to those of us without ice..
