Subject: Notice of AGM + New Association Information
Date: Thu, 13 Sep 2001 00:48:01 +0100

Dear All,

Please take time to read the entire contents of this email carefully -
it will affect the ultimate you play (and pay for) from next year
onwards.

The 2001 BUF AGM will take place on the Saturday of the Open
Nationals:-
8pm, 6th October, Daventry Sports Ground.

AGENDA

1. The dissolution of the British Ultimate Federation.

2. Approving a new constitution for the association.

3. Timetabling the formation of the association.

4. Choosing a name for the new association

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU

It is the intention of the BUF Committee to dissolve the BUF in favour
of a player-membership organisation similar to the Ultimate Players
Association in the USA. To do this we will need the approval of a
majority of the teams who constitute the BUF.

Because it has become impossible to get sufficient team representatives
round the table at AGM we will hold a postal/email ballot of all the
teams in the country.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

1. UPDATE and RESUBMIT the information listed for your team on
www.ukultimate.com. We need current addresses and working emails
please. Any problems with the website *please* let us know.

2. Read through the association proposal document
(http://www.ukultimate.com/docs/assoc.htm) and also the draft
constitution which I will circulate shortly.

3. Discuss the proposal with your team and on the email groups.

4. By Monday 24th September you will have received a postal ballot form
which needs to be returned by the following Monday, 1st October. We
would also be happy to receive your response via email also.

PLEASE make sure you are fully aware of what we are proposing. We
cannot act without the approval of a majority of teams and we do not
want to set the ball rolling until players have reached a positive
consensus on the association.

We would like to see as much public debate as possible on this. We
would welcome your questions and will be happy to answer them in
public.

Thanks for your time - I really hope our organisation is going to be
much better for everyone next year.

Ben

Secretary
British Ultimate Federation

PS - sorry for the hideous multiple cross-posting. The need to reach as
many players as possible seemed to justify it.
