Wow. Haven't seen so much attention to an issue. Excellent stuff.
Haven't seen if this has been mentioned but there been
some talk on the block-stack forums site as well if interested.

Folks,

Good debate.

Some ideas/suggestions....

1. We should always try to provide choice of competitions rather than force people into playing a certain way (e.g. forcing mixed upon student competition)

2. To have choice we need larger number of players (especially women)

3. I would like to see UK Ultimate offer a recruitment bounty for clubs which recruit new members and especially women. This would be a better way of increasing numbers of women than forcing mixed.

4. What Hedge said about actually talking to new female recruits is gospel. I hope the UK Ultimate setup will allow us to do this though I hope it isn't just on the basis of an 'exit interview'

5. In some cases the female players have allowed the men to run everything. This could be the fault of the men that recruited them though!

6. I have my doubts about the female recruitment motivations of some male-dominated teams in this country. I suspect the word 'tottie' is to be heard at some freshers fairs around the country. Others seem to recruit women to flatter their ego. Some on the other hand are brilliant at recruiting both sexes - lets learn from them.

7. Like any special interest group this will all happen best if it is driven by that group itself. If women want change then it will work best if they take more control of their own affairs.

8. There are two women standing for directorships in the election.
