Hi Bristidisc,

Many thanks to Si Weeks for organising the SW indoor qualifiers last
weekend. It was a great venue with a superb floor and organised in such a
way that everyone got loads of pitch time.

As can be expected the quality of the Ultimate at the tournament was great
however during the weekend an incident occurred during one of my pool games
which I don't believe should be allowed to happen.

In brief, the team we were playing, known for being a good team who play
well together and are normally very good spirited, had been drinking for
most of the afternoon. Now normally I would have no problem with this
whatsoever however in this particular case people's judgement had been
seriously affected.

Playing against them was dangerous for both teams with people falling over
each other and into walls and being heavily body checked whilst being
marked. The scoreline began to reflect this with no points being scored by
the drunk team. Frustration set in and this led to two incidences where
drunk team members had to be restrained from starting fights for foul calls
made by my team. The calls may or may not have been correct but there was no
SOTG or even rational discussion of the call. I am no 'party pooper' but
people becoming 'angry drunks' is in no way fun. This is not the sort of
ultimate I came along to play.

The final score line was 26-0 and the game was both a waste of time and in
very bad spirit. In a tournament which involves important games for
qualification to the nationals this is not the sort of behaviour I expect. I
think that this incident should be made an example of and should not happen
again. I'm sure this next comment will provoke response but I think that the
penalty for such behaviour in the future should be the banning of teams from
certain tournaments.

Does anybody have any other comments?

James.
