Ed,

The eligibility for tournaments doesn't really cost us anything so there is no saving to be made unfortunately.

Our main costs are the newsletter and the administrator and these would remain irrespective of whether you played in the official events. 

If we are to appeal to a wider audience then we just need to make sure that these benefits are relevant to everyone who plays. I hope that this turns out to be the case.
