Thanks to everybody who offered their suggestions about attracting
new players. Barry O`Kane` covered a lot of the points in his message
and saved me a massive amount of typing, but to those who are
interested here are some additional ones:

A great idea is to play an exibition match nearby. At least have
people chucking the disc around by the fair to attract attention.
Fancy throws and plenty of laying out will obviously look good.

Have loads of girls on your stall to do the recuiting. It just works.

Make a deal with the netball club ,as the games are similar, for
cheap membership so that those getting disillusioned with netball
will hopefully give ultimate a go. ( I suppose the same could
be done if you have an american footbal team).

Have disc`s on sale so people are more committed to the club and can
practice away from training sessions.

Have cheap or delayed joining fees as quite a few of the other sports
tend to be fairly expensive. Once people have tasted the game they
would be fools not to like it.

In addition to the usual puplicity advertise in the student paper.

When it comes to keeping hold of new players being organized for the
first training sessions is essential. For beginners hold special
practices , indoor if possable, so they can learn the basics without
the wind. Go to a tournament early on ( Edinburgh ) or arrange to
play against other local student beginners teams.

I`m late for practice now so adios.
