We don't all have closed practices, Slipdisc are a geo-team but we open our practices to who ever wants to come along. We've tried to recruit more women, since we want to play in the Mixed Tour, but just can't find the interest. We've doubled the size of our squad this year, through recruitment and some people coming back to Brum after Uni. So, out of about 12-13 new players, 2 are women. It's not from a lack of trying, believe me. If anyone has any good ideas on how to attract the ladies to our sport, please let me know. Aside from having good looking blokes in the squad to start with, that hasn't worked either, I must be losing my touch! Has anyone considered the impact of geo team's on women's ultimate? Having lived both near Leeds and London since the development of geo teams in the past 18 months, my personal experience has been that it is becoming increasingly difficult for competitive women to benefit from practicing with experienced men as a result of closed practices. I understand the need for and applaud the move towards geo teams but because of the small player base of competitive women I believe it may result in a weaker GB women's team till the problem is addressed and many more women are recruited.
