Maybe a small rope fence like the one used to mark the camping area =
would be a more visible restraint. It only needs to be erected just =
before the final. People will always want the best view and with such =
spectacular action like the game at the weekend who can blame them.
=20
Looking forward to more spectacular stuff.

Hello,
=20
Obviously we (Chevron) haven't got much to complain about after the =
weekend. There is one thing, though, which something needs to be done =
about. The spectators (who, I should add, were fantastic in their =
support) really were far too close to the sideline. There was even an =
incident with a chair and a clapham lad which should never have =
happened. There are (at least) 3 good reasons for keeping the spectators =
clear of the sideline.
=20
1. Less chance of incidents (like the chair one) caused either by the =
player's momentum, or his/her laying out (e.g. worlds greatest - I =
wonder how many more we'd see if there was more space!?).
=20
2. Players are restricted from throwing discs which go out and then back =
in (normally roll curves) . To do this at present, the release would =
have to be extremely high. Imagine that someone is breaking long, and =
you, trapped on the sideline, want to throw to him. The throw you would =
ideally make would (when the spectators are as they were yesterday) have =
to go through about 5 people at least. This is outdoors, and one of the =
great things about outdoors is that there are no walls. Why feel the =
need to construct one out of people?
=20
3. It makes it easier for the team playing to maintain contact with =
their sideline members and vice versa. (A related point: Why not even =
have an area for the team to be in (a dug-out?) in the middle of the =
sideline area?)
=20
Solution: mark a spectator line 5 or so metres from the sideline on the =
pitch on which the final will be played. Then everyone will be able to =
see the pitch and it will be better and safer.
=20
Thanks to everyone for there support at the weekend and sorry about the =
rant. Just thought I'd better say it while it was on my mind.
