London Ultimate League - Skills Clinics

Ultimate is a game that can be played by just about anyone but,
like most sports, the more you know and learn, the more fun it is.
And, unlike some sports, the best ultimate players are usually more
than happy to share what they know about the game. The league's
Clinic Team will be putting on clinics throughout the year.

Ultimate is the biggest co-ed sport in the world(!) and it focuses
on Spirit, Fun and Friendly Competition. Players of all skill
levels are invited to come out for a "back to basics" Skills Clinic
followed by a 'pick-up' game.

Do you have a friend, co-worker or family member who is interested
in learning more about Ultimate? Then the Basic Skills Clinic would
be a good place to start! People of all ages and fitness levels are
welcome.

The next Skills Clinic will take place

*1pm, Saturday, May 4th, Regent's Park
(There is a regular pick-up game here at this time also)

This map shows the general area where we will be, but look around
for low-flying objects when you get there.

To register your interest for this day, please email Kynan at
"kacheng@yahoo.com" with a subject of "4 May Clinic".
[Volunteers please also contact me as above]

What will I learn at the Skills Clinic?

At the Skills Clinic you'll learn about the rules of Ultimate and
the basic skills and knowledge needed to successfully play. Each
clinic will last about 90 minutes.

BASIC - throwing, catching, rules, terminology, marking a handler,
handling a marker, effective cutting
INTERMEDIATE - tactics: stacking, person-person defence

At each Clinic there will be a pick-up game so you can practice
your skills!

Will it cost me anything?

Not a chance! London League Clinics are free, but donations are
definitely accepted - everything collected will be used to promote
Ultimate in London. Clinics are being kindly provided by volunteers
from teams throughout London League.

What do I need to bring?

Not much:

* A disc if you have one
* A light-coloured shirt
* A dark-coloured shirt
* Water

How can I learn more?

The best way to learn to play Ultimate is to Play Ultimate! During
the summer you can probably find a pick-up game (or organise your
own) on almost any day of the week.

If you'd like to learn more online, two excellent resources are
www.ultimatehandbook.com and www.whatisultimate.com

Mailing List

The London League mailing list will have announcements and news
about the League and Clinics. It's also a place where you can talk
about games, post results, etc. It's recommended that all players
join the list. There are two ways to subscribe. Either:

a) Visit www.yahoogroups.com/group/londonleague with your web
browser or
b) Send an empty e-mail message to
londonleague-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
