I've got to agree with Vito. I've got my St. Johns First Aid at Work
training which qualifies me as a trained first aider and have used St. Johns
at tournaments before, and I consider them to be a waste of money. They
really can't do much. You certainly get one of them to relocate a dislocated
finger.

At Exeter (next weekend for Tour 2) we have often decided not to bother with
any cover other than having first aiders, an ice box, compress, sports tape
and stuff you'd normally find in a first aid kit (which legally cannot be
much). With A&E just 3 minutes away, there really is little point in having
further cover, and I should know having been a frequent visitor there.

We have decided to hire a physio though for both days. The cost is around
£100 a day, and we believe, far more useful than basic first aid cover.

I don't think the cost is prohibitive, and I don't believe a TD would be
putting profit before safety. Nor do I believe anyone becomes a TD for the
money. For the record, all profits from Tour 2 are being split between the
hosting team and a charity, as has been the case from every tournament I've
been involved in organising; but that's just my choice.

Kev.

PS Directions and B&B lists for Tour 2 are going out tomorrow. We are
clashing with the Devon County Show so a lot of accommodation would have
already gone (and been booked up to a year ago). Please aim to arrive Friday
or early Saturday as motorway traffic will be heavy in Devon.
