I posted a message to britdisc about an hour ago and it
hasn't shown up so assuming it is lost. Appologies if you
eventually get both.

The ground we are trying to use is city council recreation
grounds. Having spoken to their sports officer this morning
I have a clearer idea of the situations. These grounds are
also used by football and Cricket players through the year.
Apparently as part of their affiliation with fifa or the cc
of england and wales, they get indemnity insurence for
claims against the grounds owners that they play on. The
council here are not used to dealing this sports which don't
provide the cover and I've got them runnign around at the
moment seeing if they can do anything.

This seems to be a standard practice for the council. This
maybe just oxford but the fact that other sports governing
bodies provide liability insurance for there sports suggests
that it is more widspread. I would be suprised if other
teams haven't encountered this problem with other council
grounds.

Is this something that the UKU should be thinking about
obtaining? On an individual event basis the fees are quite
large (costs approx 80 pounds as far as I can gather for a
single event for upto 250 people). However on a large scale
- to cover all events for all clubs this cost would be alot
smaller.

Ben
[we limited in oxford in ground space - most playing fields
are own by college feifdoms who are reluctant to allow
external sporting events on their green surfaces (even
students aren't allowed to walk on the grass)]
