Here's a quick report of the tournament that took place in Exeter this =
weekend.

Saturday began with blue skies and sunshine, and then deteriorated =
throughout the day. There were very few upsets in the pool matches. =
Tribal Desire beat Sharks 12-5 (having been at 5-5) to take their 4th =
seed, and Sharks II beat Mythago II to become 11th seeds. A large =
majority of pool games were won (and lost) 13-0 or 13-1. All games went =
according to seed in the knockout stage (5v12, 6v11, etc)

Saturday evening saw the usual Double Locks events for those not in B&B. =
Kabaddi was replaced with the much safer sport of Cower. Discult juniors =
put up a good fight, but couldn't really match the skill of the Monks =
(though, when Lee was 'cowering' by lying on his back, legs open, =
pointing at the target, there were shouts from the crowd along the =
lines of, "Hit the arrogant B******D, even if the target is a bit =
small!" Best three pint challenge was from Jimmy of Picnic with Neil of =
Cuisons, with 19.97. Women's division was won by Pip H. and Nikki from =
Uriel with 36 seconds.

Sunday morning, 8:30 start, and much worse weather (I wish I'd got a =
photo of those people who were inside the kitchen tent when it blew =
away). It was always going to be difficult imposing such an early start, =
and Picnic I and Picnic II both paid the price for drinking too much the =
night before. Neither team had showed up by 9:00, so Mythago II and =
Funky Nuns both claimed automatic wins (First game ever won by the =
Nuns?)

9:30 saw the quarter finals, with qualification for the finals at stake. =
Top four all comfortably win, but Druids did concede 4 points to =
Mythago. Tribal cruise past Cusions 12-1, with arguments between the =
teams beginning even before the game (couldn't agree on disc colour, =
with 3 colour-blind people playing for Tribal, and Cuisons not wanting =
white since some of their own players were wearing white), and arguments =
continuing way after the game (can you really call a rules violation =
after you've been stalled out on the basis that your opponent didn't =
start the stalling with the word "Stall" or "Stalling"?)

Semi Finals, Druids zone in both directions to crush Tribal Desire 10-2, =
and Monks and Headrush have the titanic struggle that was always =
expected. Headrush had more subs, and finally won in over-time 5-4. In =
the other qualifying games, Cuisons go out 7-4 to Skunks I, and Sharks I =
lost 7-5 to Mythago I. Congratulations to both student teams for =
qualifying.=20

The final was comfortably won by Druids. I don't know the score, and I =
don't think they did either. Heard a rumour that Headush scored 3, but =
I'm probably wrong. Monks decided not to risk any more injuries, and =
conceded the final game to Tribal so they could head back early. I'm =
sure they'll trounce us next week to make up for it.

In the plate, Uriel I beat Sharks II in the plate final. Uriel II and =
Picnic II battled it out for last place, but finished 4-4 to share 15th =
spot. Spirit went to Uriel II, but it was very close with all lower 8 =
team picking up spirit votes.

Kevin.
