EUC 1997 open to international teams

In an approach to attract more players and to give them the chance to gain
experience with international play the European Flying Disc Federation
(EFDF) together with the host of this year's European Ultimate
Championships (EUC) Charlie Mead have decided to accept international teams
to the 1997 EUC.

If you are interested in attending the EUC but your country could not find
enough players to form a national team, then read the message of Charlie
Mead below. There is enough interest already for an open international
team. Charlie will know more about the other divisions.

EFDF is also accepting "B" national teams in cases where a country might
have enough players to form a second team. And, certainly any country which
hasn't registered a national team at all may still do so.

All questions and sign up requests are to be sent to Charlie Mead directly
(see contact information below).

Please note that unlike to the usual timing of EUCs this year play will
start on Monday (Aug. 25th) instead of Sunday.

Information about the EUC can be found on the web at

       http://www.ira.uka.de/~thgries/disc/efdf/

Regards,
Thomas Griesbaum thgries@ira.uka.de
EFDF President

P.S.: I apologize if you receive multiple copies of this. But the EUC is
coming soon and we want to reach as many players as possible.

Please pass this on to all players your club team.

Hi,

This is an offer from the Organising Committee of the EFDF European Ultimate
Championships for any players from your country who wish to form an
international team in Open, Womens and Junior divisions to attend Euro '97
and join with other players living in Europe to make up as many teams as is
practical.

The tournament will be held on August 24th-30th at Millfield School.
Registration is August 24th and play begins on Monday August 25th. The finals
are on Saturday August 30th.

We recognise that this is a late invitation and are offering floor space at a
very cheap rate.to anyone taking up the offer. Players will need to provide
their own food or buy the food package which is L90 for the week, breakfast
and dinner. There is also the player fee of L90 which covers all tournament
costs and parties, medical facilities, players pack and transport for the
whole week.

The countries that are eligible to send players in the divisions where they
do not already have a national team entered are are Austria, Belgium,
Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway,
Holland, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Hungary, Latvia, Russiaand any
non-european passport holders who have been resident in Europe for more than
1 year.

We are offering this opportunity because a number of players from the
countries above have indicated a wish to come but do not have enough players
in some of the divisions for a whole team. It is an opportunity for players
to play against the best in Europe, meet new friends and help develop the
sport back home afterwards.
