I don't wish to single anyone out regarding this ongoing discussion, but
even if a few of the messages have been a little heated at least for not
the first time in recent months the majority of the ultimate community
have been thinking about ways in which to improve our sport. Granted by
the time the lack of tournaments was discussed it was perhaps too late
to do any for this year, but perhaps we will see more in the future.
Anyway, one thing we all appear to be agreed on is that we have a
collective responsibility for improvements, since we can no longer
expect the members of the BUF/BFDF/BDGA committees to carry the can for
the rest of us.
To that end, Kowpat 1998 in Milton Keynes will give you all the
opportunity to contribute to the end of tournament report. With each
results slip that teams hand in there will be space for you to write a
few brief comments on the game. Since both teams in a game will have to
hand in a results slip we should be able to get a balanced perspective.
Obviously someone from the Mad Kows will have to use to compile the
report, but at least we will know a little about all of the games
played, rather than just the scores. At the end of the day you guys will
have responsibilty for the bulk of the report, so it will be up to you
how the tournament is presented to rest of the ultimate community. Feel
free to tell how pants your team played in the first game, so long as
you're willing to share this with everyone else.
This idea does not seem vastly different from those put forward
earlier, which goes to show that we're more than capable of coming up
with feasible ideas to make everybody's life a little easier, so rather
than keeping them to ourselves lets see if we can do something about
them. If you have any more bright ideas then I'm sure Mark Jefferson
would like to here from you. In the interim, if you want your say then
book your place at KOWPAT '98.
